2021 Family Program/Programa Familiar

Roswell Reads is excited to announce that our 2021 Family Program book selection is The Blue House written and illustrated by award winning author Phoebe Wahl. This book beautifully explores the concept of home from a child’s point of view – a theme that runs throughout our 2021 book selection, The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. 

The only house Leo has ever known is the little blue one he shares with his dad. The two have made numerous memories in the old (and maybe slightly falling apart) house, and they can't imagine calling anywhere else "home." When their landlord sells the blue house so new apartments can be built in its place, Leo and his dad have no choice in the matter. They must find a new place to live. Initially angered, the two work through their emotions together and support one another until the new place starts to feel like home. A touching story about how much room a place can take up in our hearts, and an important moral that home is wherever you make it.
